It’s not often that a former Italian professional cyclist drops by the 99 Bikes HQ for coffee. Today though was an exception to that rule when Angelo Lecchi walked through the door accompanied by Andrew Griffin and Annalisa Tongi from Bianchi.
Angelo Lecchi is a cycling legend in his own right having rode in two editions of the Tour de France, five editions of the Giro d’Italia and two editions of the Vuelta a España. These days Angelo is the road product manager for Bianchi.
They arrived with a box containing something very special indeed: A Bianchi Oltre XR4 CV frameset. Launched in July, this new frame features countervail carbon vibration-cancelling technology. A bit of mouthful I know, but the new system claims to reduce vibrations and turbulence on both the rider and the frame which according to Bianchi should guarantee a smoother and better performing ride.
